If you were that nervous it probably shone thrown, unfortunately.

On a basic level, it’s not fair, but at the same time, when you go to deal with clients you’ll have equally stressful situations so they’re definitely interested in knowing whether you could “handle it” down the road.

Consider public speaking clubs…

On the upside, at least you got the rejection letter – many outfits don’t even bother.

There are a lot of people that wanted to go to the CA route, were unable to pursue and still succeeded greatly. The CA helps, but its not the holy grail of success.

I mean I can see what you are trying to say, but your thinking of taking a long and winding path to a bucket of coal will exist only because you want it to.

Go out there and do something about it. If you are not happy with the path you have been given, make another one. Make mistakes, learn from them. You are probably around 23-24…you have SO much time to make HUGE changes. Sitting there and thinking about what you are going to do with the coal isn’t going to help.

I sort of compare a CA career to the girl who plays hard to get. She knows she’s hot and popular, and if you ever have her as a girlfriend she’s demanding and will make your life miserable.

Still…you have a hot girl on your arm and you’re instantly more attractive to all the other girls around you.

Mind you for most it’s a long hard slog with ridiculous hours and incredibly crazy challenges – unless they’re really good. Then it’s just mildly tricky. :p

I got the exact same letter from Deloitte last year and this was sent about 2weeks after the recruitment process. You would have thought they could have been much more efficient to tell people they didn’t get it…although i did revenge on them though, they offered me a position this year and i rejected them in favour for another firm

Wow I know how it feels. I’ve been through the whole recruiting things before and the “that nothing is ever what it seems” line hits home. So many times I left recruiting events thinking I would have multiple offers “for sure”.

Keep going man. As someone once said to me “I assure you, you will land on your feet”

I don’t know why I picked accounting. It is by no means my “passion”, but it was something I did well at in high school, and thus chose to continue in university. I never considered job security and salary, which I admit was stupid of me. But I was only 18 and naive when I made my decision and entering the workforce seemed so far away; such considerations never came to me.

yikes, i’m pretty worried about my job prospects when i graduate next year. also taking a whole sleu of accounting courses.

did you take up accounting for the “job security” and supposedly good salary prospect? do you actually LIKE it?
